Man held for robbing pregnant woman in Lagos
Detectives attached to the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected member of an armed robbery gang who specialized in trailing bank customers. The suspect and his gang had on February 15,
2018, trailed a pregnant woman who went to withdraw money from a bank at Oba Elegushi area of Lekki. It was gathered that the suspects, who operated from a motorcycle, dispossessed the woman of cash and valuable items. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who confirmed the incident, said on receipt of the information, detectives swiftly moved to the area.
Edgal said that two of the robbers escaped abandoning a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number GGE 315 GE while one of the suspects identified as Ewuzie Mike was instantly arrested. He said a Barreta pistol with two live ammunitions were recovered from the suspect, adding that “During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and gave the names of other members of his gang as Coco, Obilo and Hywuai. The three named suspects are currently on the run.” He said that the arrested suspect would soon be charged to court, while the fleeing gang members would be chased and track down to their hideouts.
