There have been lots of controversial discussions all over the country about tithes. There were several arguments claiming that pastors are making use of tithes meant for churches for their own personal gains.
Discussions about how best to pay your tithes to God without it being used or taken for personal gain have also risen. Some Nigerians suggested that people should pay tithes by doing good deeds while others stated that tithes should be paid to churches.Popular Nollywood actor Uti Nwachukwu has also shared his own suggestion on what Christians can do about paying tithes. The young actor suggested that first fruits can be paid to parents instead of pastors. The 35-year-old actor posted the question on social media. He expressed that is it possible for Christians to pay first fruits to their parents instead of paying to pastors.
He further added that tithes could also be paid the same way. Nwachukwu also asked people to give reasons why it should and shouldn’t be done the way he suggested, adding that the thought had been bothering him for a while.
He wrote:
“What if we gave our first fruits to mum or dad or both…would that be Okay?...#question ALSO OUR TITHEs.....what if we gave them to our PARENTS ALSO.......I really want to rub minds with deep thinking mature Individuals. Cos this has been on my mind.
