After dominating the Nigerian music scene for decades, veteran reggae dancehall musician, Felix Duke, is still much around and is not prepared to throw in the towel anytime soon.
The ‘Mr Goody Goody’ crooner who ruled the music space while traversing the globe with his music during his hey days bragged to Showtime in an exclusive chat that though the music industry has metamorphosed from what it used to be, he is still hotter than most of the new school generation of artistes.
“I’m hotter than fire anytime; I have a new single I’m promoting at the moment and there is another one cooking, I featured Timaya on it”, he boasted. He explained why the fire and stardom of some old school artistes have fizzled out.
“You know everything in life has got it’s time and season, some of the old school artistes have nothing to offer anymore. Some of them still follow the trend of time but one thing or the other limits them from shining like the new school artistes. You know times have changed, maybe they don’t have money to promote their songs”.
Speaking further, he agreed that old school musicians make good music which lasts longer than that of new school artistes.
“You are very correct, because Nigerians are now dancing to only beats, they don’t care about good lyrics anymore.” He finally crowned Wizkid a better musician than Davido because his music appeals to him more than David's.
“Anybody can be named or crowned anything these days because it is their season. I personally like Wizkid, he is very talented and he’s been making good use of his time and I like that. As a father, the two of them (Wizkid and Davido) are good, but Wizkid’s songs move me more.”
