Punch reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission detained Lawal for alleged fraud to the tune of N223m.
It was further reported that Lawal was detained by the anti-graft agency after arriving at their Abuja office around 11am on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
He was reportedly interrogated for about eight hours before he was asked to remain in custody for another session on Thursday, January 25.
The acting Spokesman to the EFCC, Samin Amaddin , reportedly confirmed Lawal’s arrest.
